I am a landscape photographer based in the Cotswolds, UK. My engagement with photography began from an early age and continued throughout a long career as a film producer in London. Since leaving the film industry in 2020 it has become a full-time pursuit.
I spend much of my time walking the countryside and coastlines, photographing nature’s incredible diversity – from sweeping vistas to intimate details. Being immersed in nature, while trying to capture its elemental beauty, is a restorative activity for me. It brings stillness and a sense of wellbeing. Creating work that reflects something of my emotional relationship with the landscape is more important to me than a literal representation.
My practice is intuitive – working with whatever catches my attention in the moment. I have spent many hours photographing the movement of grasses swaying in the wind and am fascinated by the serendipitous nature of this kind of photography and how the ephemeral can be captured.
Motion plays an important role for me, with its capacity to transform the commonplace into the poetic. I’m drawn to the lyrical, and often use slow shutter speeds, camera movement and multiple exposures to create images that evoke nature’s enduring rhythm and flow.
I have no expectations when exploring the landscape and remain open to the subtle beauty nature presents. Looking for fresh ways of interpreting this beauty is the focus of my approach.
